To open admin panel click the settings icons and click login.
You can set your Netkiosk Admin password or pin in Netkiosk Admin Panel.

  1. Set your homepage.
  2. Tick allow access to your website (domain only), if you want to restrict browsing access.
  3. Enter your website name to the white list including other website names you want to allow.
Make sure you enter the website name only. If your website is you only need to enter
The whitelist filter will detect all sub domains and website folders in your website.
If you want to give access to your facebook page then only enter your facebook page name.
    In our
case our facebook page is called netkioskkiosksoftware and not Netkiosk.
    This will allow
a user to view your facebook page and will stop the user browsing to other pages on facebook.
  4. Set the idle time timer. Netkiosk automatically also clears all browser history when the user presses log out.

The idle time timer can be set to allow for Netkiosk to reset after x time in case a user leaves the PC without logging out.
After the PC is idle for x minutes. A screen will pop up.
This shows the user that Netkiosk will clear their sessions after 30 seconds.
A user has the option to click cancel. The user can then continue to use Netkiosk.
You can change the text “Netkiosk will reset in” into your own language. You can also change the idle time settings.

Enter the domain name only. Do not enter http:// or www or .com etc.
Click save when ready and the domains will be automatically added to the white list.
Netkiosk uses domain white listing which means you do not need to enter the full website address.
For example: if your website is
You ONLY enter the main domain which in the example is mycompany
Do not enter anything like .com etc or the white list will not work properly.
Websites are often redirected to country domains or different sub domain which makes content filtering very tricky.
This is why Netkiosk only looks at the main domain name for the white list.
If your domain has a Facebook or Twitter or Instagram or another sub-page then make sure to add these to the white list.
On sites like Facebook and Twitter not always the Full domain is listed due to the character length and other restrictions.
These sites then often abbreviate your domain.
We have added a few samples which, of course, you can remove to add your own website domain, and others.

Netkiosk Browser layout Tab

  1. Run Netkiosk in Tabbed Browser or info kiosk mode. (Google Chrome Kiosk mode is below)
Make any settings change to suit your needs and requirements.
  2. If you run Netkiosk in info kiosk mode you can still show the custom bookmark toolbar.
  3. You can customize or hide the floating menu bar to suit your needs and requirements
The floating toolbar is mainly there if you want to run Netkiosk on touch screen devices.
  4. The OSK keyboard icon is helpful in case the Windows OSK keyboard does not automatically show on touch screen devices.
  5. You can also give access to your own OSK. This mean you can point to any other OSK on the PC and Netkiosk will use that OSK.
You need to make sure your own OSK works well inside Netkiosk. We do not offer support for OSK’s from third part manufacturers.
You can give users access to fixed bookmarks. Users can not change these.
Users can not add bookmarks.
You can enable the bookmark toolbar in Netkiosk admin panel.
Change the Bookmark 1 to 10 with your own bookmark text.
Add the website you want to bookmark to browse to.
IMPORTANT. Make sure you add any bookmark website names to the while list.
Blocking websites or keywords
When a keyword is found on the website the entire website is blocked.
When a website name is found in the blocked websites the entire website is blocked.
Be careful, as some websites contain keywords like facebook that you might not want to block.
If you want to block a website like, you just enter facebook in the domain list, on the Content Filter Tab.
Again do not enter anything like http:// or www or .com etc.
You only need to enter the main domain name of the website.

You can use the custom Netkiosk OSK or the Windows OSK (Windows OSK is recommended only in Windows 8 and 10)
If in Windows 10 the Windows Tabtip OSK does NOT show.
1) Right click in the bottom right corner of your Windows Taskbar. (on the up arrow)
2) In the pop-up screen tick. “Show touch keyboard button.”
3) The OSK icon should show in the system Tray.
4) You can now use the windows Tabtip OSK in Netkiosk (OSK Tab)

You can also point to your own OSK. If enabled Netkiosk will use the Windows OSK (or your own OSK)
If disabled Netkiosk will use the Netkiosk OSK.

The Custom Netkiosk OSK works in US and UK English only.
It has a built-in touchpad and virtual mouse.

The Netkiosk OSK uses keysmapping.xml files. These are located in the Netkiosk installation folder in Program Files.
C:\Program Files\Netkiosk Standard\KeyMapping.xml and KeysMappingUK.xml
You do not need to go near them unless you know how to edit these.
You can customize these for other languages, or to suit your needs.
The KeysMapping files are Standard Microsoft xml files and work on all Windows versions.
At present they have only been configured for US and UK English.
Although they work in other languages the Keyboard buttons text will NOT change to your language if you Windows language is not UK or US English.
If needed we can customize the KeysMapping file for you. As this takes time, it depends on the number of licenses you have purchased.

Works in Tabbed browser or information kiosk mode

The Netkiosk OSK can be docked at the click of the keyboard button.

It then becomes a floating menu bar.

You can disable or enable the keyboard icons in Netkiosk Admin Panel. Or disable the keyboard altogether.

When you close Netkiosk all default windows settings are fully restored.
Except the Windows 7 /8 Ctrl Alt Del menu which is controlled completely separate from Netkiosk.
You can un-install Netkiosk via Control Panel.
You can also use NetkioskStandardRestore to fully restore some of your Windows Settings that
where in use by Netkiosk.
This small program is automatically installed in Netkiosk Admin folder in the admin Start menu when you install Netkiosk.

How to disable the Ease of access button on the Windows logon screen (Windows 7 / 8)
Open the Command Prompt and enter the following command and press Enter.

You can copy and paste the code into the command prompt on Windows 7, 8 and 10

Right click on Utilman.exe and click, Properties > Security > Advanced > Owner > Edit
Change ownership from TrustedInstaller to Administrator.
